  • Star Marianas Air is a U.S. Regional Commuter Airline serving the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam.  We offer scheduled flights from Saipan to Tinian and from Saipan to Rota.  Additionally, charter flights can be arranged 24 hours per day / 7 days per week.
  • The "Star" in Star Marianas Air comes from the first letter of the islands of Saipan, Tinian, Aguiguan, and Rota.
  • Founded in 2008, Star Marianas Air (S.M.A.) received initial certification from the FAA as an On Demand Air Carrier effective April 1, 2009 with our first flight ocurring on April 2, 2009; a charter between Tinian and Saipan.
  • In 2010 we added 3 Cherokee Sixes to our fleet bringing the total number of aircraft operated to 6.
  • On May 4, 2011 we began operating cargo charters to the island of Rota and in July 2011 started cargo charters to Guam.
  • In February of 2013 we added our first Navajo Chieftain and began offering passenger charter flights to the islands of Rota and Guam.
  • In June of 2014 we received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration and U.S. Department of Transportation to conduct scheduled passenger and cargo service throughout the Mariana Islands and subsequently began scheduled flights from Saipan to Tinian and Saipan to Rota.
  • As of 2016 our fleet has grown to 11 total aircraft (5 Navajo Chieftains and 6 Cherokee Sixes) and we employ 115 people.  On average we operate nearly 200 flights per day between the islands, making us one of the busiest carriers in the Pacific in terms of total flights.
  • We operate from the Saipan Commuter Terminal on Saipan, from the international airport terminals on Tinian and Rota, and from the Light Aircraft Commuter Facility on Guam.
  • Our corporate offices are located at Hangar One on West Tinian International Airport on the beautiful island of Tinian.

Pilot Hiring Minimums:

For Part 91 operations:

-FAA Commercial Single Engine Land with Instrument Rating,

-100 hours cross country (point to point) of which 25 hours must be night cross country (point to point),

-Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI) Written Test Completed, 

-Authorized to work in the United States

For Part 135 Commuter Operations (Single Engine):

-Must meet the Pilot in Command Qualifications specified in 14 CFR 135.243(b)

-Be Authorized to work in the United States

For Part 135 Commuter Operations (Multi-Engine):

-Must meet the Pilot in Command Qualifications specified in 14 CFR 135.243(a)(1)

-Be Authorized to work in the United States

Applications for open positions are sent to [email protected].  Candidates who meet our minimum qualifications are contacted by email to schedule an interview which is conducted via an online video conferencing application (either Skype or Google Hangouts).

Pre-employment drug testing is arranged prior to traveling to Tinian.

Upon arrival in either Guam or Saipan, transportation to Tinian is provided by the company, and a company apartment and vehicle are provided for one week. HR department provides assistance in finding housing and transportation options.

PAY NOTES

-Entry level (Part 91) - $21,600 per annum + Relocation Assistance (6 month contract with opportunity to renew)

-Entry level – Single engine (Part 135) - $25,500 per annum (6 month contract with opportunity to renew)

-Multiengine scheduled pilot (Part 135) - $60,000 per annum (1 year contract with opportunity to renew)

-Retention bonuses paid at 6 month intervals

-Monthly Pay Guarantee for Line Holders: Pay is fixed on a salary basis and is not dependent on block hours.

-Scheduled pay raises: Pay increase for each 1 year of service.
