NTSB Recommends Inspection Of PW2037 Engines
In a letter to the FAA Administrator, the Acting Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Mark Rosenker, has requested immediate action by the FAA due to concerns over engine failures.
The NTSB recommended that Pratt & Whitney PW2037 engines, most commonly installed on Boeing 757 aircraft, be removed from service until inspection of the 2nd stage turbine hub is complete.An investigation into the uncontained failure of a Pratt & Whitney PW2037 engine installed on a Delta Airlines Boeing 757 on August 6,2008 prompted the recommendation.
